JAMES SIMPKINS
Member of the Board of Directors

  • Simpkins has served on the MCRA board since 1989, and is the only original board member who remains on the board of directors today
  • Present and former owner of several companies and businesses such as Simpkins Lumber Company, Simpkins Mine Supply Company, Crown Industries, Tolsia Wood Products, Quality Equipment Company, Summit Enterprises and the Varney Sports & Fitness Center

RET. GENERAL ROBERT (“DOC”) FOGLESONG
Member of the Board of Directors

  • Foglesong has served on the MCRA board since 2012
  • Retired four-star General of the United States Air Force
  • Designated by the President of the United States to act as Co-Chair of the Joint US/Russia Commission on POWs/MIAs
  • Served as a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, where he accumulated 30 military awards for leadership and technical skills
  • Served as the 18th President of Mississippi State University
  • President and Executive Director of the Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation
  • Serves as Chairman and CEO for Stark Aerospace, Inc.
  • Member of the Michael Baker Corporation Board of Directors

TERRY SAMMONS

  • Sammons has served on the MCRA board since 2003
  • Owns Sammons Law Office in Gilbert, specializing in environmental law
  • Member of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission

DAN R. MOORE

  • Served asChairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the former Matewan BancShares
  • Serves as a director and Chairman of the West Virginia University Foundation

  • Serves as a member and past chairman of the WVU Foundation

  • Inducted into the West Virginia Coal Hall of Fame in 1998
